I bet you didn't think of yourself as a brain changer, did you? But as a teacher, that is just what you are! A very interesting article explains just what I mean by this. So, enjoy the day and change some brains for the better today=:)
I have been a teacher for over 20 years. As a special education teacher who works with children with moderate special needs I am constantly driven to learn new strategies for helping students overcome their academic challenges. Children need exposure to concepts through multiple modes in order to engage all of their senses while learning. Movement is crucial to learning. Lateral movement which increases crossing mid-line increases the brains effective communication across hemispheres, linking new material to what is already known more efficiently. Increased heart rate releases brain chemicals that speed growth of neural networks, speeding the process to long term memory. I hope to share many ideas that will increase the success of all students, especially students with learning challenges, in your classroom.
